Where Does Your Day Actually Go?

A simple daily journal that helps you see where your 1,440 minutes go, so you can decide what to do with them.

You get 1,440 minutes every day. But most of us don’t realize where they went until they’re already gone.

Some days feel full, but when someone asks what you got done, it is hard to say.

An athlete means to train and ends up scrolling.

A student plans to study and loses an hour to one more episode.

A parent gets to the end of the day and wonders where it went.

It is rarely a lack of effort. Most of the time, it is a lack of awareness.

I don’t have enough time.

I don’t know where it goes.

I’ll start fresh tomorrow.

But what if you could see exactly where your time went, without anyone grading you for it?

Introducing

Own Your 1440

The Daily Time-Awareness Journal

Track it. See it. Make it count.

Created by Chris Petersen, former professional baseball player, longtime coach, and certified mental performance coach.

After more than 30 years of working with athletes, I have noticed that the best ones are not always the ones with the most time. They are the ones who know what they are doing with it.

I built this journal to give you a simple way to find out. No apps. No complicated system. Just a page a day and honest numbers.

How it works

Three Simple Steps. One Week.

01

Track

Where is my time going?

Days 1 to 7: type a number from 1 to 5 in each half-hour box. Do not fix anything yet. First, get the truth.

02

Look Back

What do I notice?

On Day 7, add up your minutes and complete the Weekly Audit. See what surprised you and what mattered.

03

Make It Count

What is one thing I will change?

Next week, choose ONE small change to try. Not ten. One.

After one week, you will know where your time really goes, and you will have one change you chose for yourself.

You won’t track every block perfectly. That’s not the goal.

Missed a block? Guess and keep going. The goal is awareness, not perfection.

The Number Key

Five Numbers. That’s the Whole System.

Every half hour gets one number. You decide what belongs in each group. Go with your gut. Your label is the data.

1

Productive

Quality time, including moving your Top 3 forward.

2

Time Drift

Minutes that went somewhere you didn’t intend.

3

Neutral

Necessary time, neither good nor bad.

4

Recharging

Rest, fun, and refueling.

5

Sleep

Nighttime sleep, plus naps.

Recharging is not wasted time. Rest and fun are part of a good day. Time Drift is not a punishment. It is information.

What You’ll Find Inside

What You’ll Walk Away With

A clear picture of where your day really goes

Seven Daily 1440 pages with a simple half-hour grid from 5 AM to 11 PM, plus last night’s sleep and a quick “What did I notice about today?”

Your day in real minutes

My Day in Minutes turns your numbers into totals that land close to 1,440, so you see it in black and white.

Clarity on what matters most

Name your Top 3 Priorities, then see how much of your day actually moves them forward.

Confidence you are doing it right

A Start Here guide explains the whole process in plain language, and a filled-in example shows how a real day might look. Use it as a starting point and make it your own.

One change you chose yourself

The Weekly Audit helps you count it up, notice what surprised you, decide what mattered, and pick what you will make count next week.

A tool that fits how you work

Type or write directly into the boxes. Use it on a screen or print it. It is your journal.

Who Is This Journal For?

Anyone Ready to Be Honest About Their Time

Athletes

If you want to know how much time goes to training, recovery, and sleep, and how much just disappears, this gives you the picture.

Students

If you are balancing school, sports, and a social life, you will see where your hours really go and where you have more room than you thought.

Parents of athletes

If you want to help your athlete build time awareness without nagging, hand them a tool they can run on their own.

Coaches

If you want athletes to take more ownership of their habits, the Weekly Audit has a space to share notes with their coach.

Right now, you might be thinking

Fair Questions

“Is this going to be a lot of work?”

You enter one number for each half-hour block. That is it. If you miss a block, guess and keep going.

“Will it make me feel bad about my time?”

No. There are no grades in this journal. Time Drift is information, and Recharging counts as time well spent.

“What if my days are all different?”

That is useful to know too. You track a full week, so you can see your busy days and your quiet ones.

“Will my athlete actually use it?”

It is built to be simple and private. They decide what each number means, and they decide what to change.

A Simple Journal With a Clear Purpose

No Grades. No Guilt. Just Notice.

You don’t need another app to manage.

You don’t need to be perfect at it.

And you don’t need someone else telling you how to spend your day.

You simply need enough awareness to say:

This is where my time went.

This is what I noticed.

And I get to decide what to do next.

You choose what counts in each category. You choose the one change to try. The journal just gives you the clear picture to decide from.
