Private Performance Coaching for Competitive Athletes

Perform when it counts

You already have the skills and know how to play the game.

Now let’s make sure the athlete who shows up in practice is the same athlete who shows up when the game is on the line.

You’ve seen it happen.

In practice, you’re loose, confident & locked in.

The swing looks and feels good. The shots are accurate. The mechanics are there.

You definitely know what you’re doing.

Then the game starts.

One mistake.

One bad at-bat.

One missed opportunity.

One call you don’t agree with.

And suddenly you’re overthinking. A lot.

Your body tightens up. You start worrying about making another mistake. You stop trusting what you’ve trained.

And instead of competing against your opponent, you’re competing against yourself.

If that sounds familiar, I want you to know something:

You probably don’t need more talent.

You need to learn how to access the talent you already have when the pressure is on.

Because you didn’t put in all these hours just to be great in practice.

You want to know what happens when the athlete you KNOW you are starts showing up consistently when it matters most.

“I know I’m better than I’m showing.”

Maybe you’ve said it.

Maybe your coach has said it.

Maybe your parents have watched it happen a hundred times.

Because they’ve seen the athlete you are when you’re loose and having fun.

They’ve seen what happens when you’re not thinking about the last play. Or the score. Or who’s watching. Or whether you’re going to mess up.

They know it’s in there.

And so do you. That’s what makes it so frustrating.

You can do it.

You’ve done it hundreds, maybe thousands, of times.

So why does competition sometimes feel completely different?

Pressure.Expectations.Fear of failure.Overthinking.

Trying so hard not to mess up or to impress someone that you stop competing freely.

And suddenly the athlete who knows exactly what to do can’t get out of their own head long enough to do it.

Sometimes the answer isn’t another mechanical adjustment.

Sometimes the thing standing between the athlete you are now and the athlete you could become… is what happens when the pressure rises.

And you know there’s another level in you.

You’re talented.

You’ve put in the hours.

You’ve sacrificed.

And deep down, you know you’re capable of more than what you’re showing right now.

You don’t just want to play a little better.

You want to be better than all the rest.

  • Make the team.
  • Earn a spot on the starting roster.
  • Compete at the next level.
  • Get noticed and recruited.
  • Put yourself in a position for bigger opportunities.

Maybe that’s varsity.

College.

A scholarship.

Or something you can’t even see yet.

You don’t know exactly how far your talent could take you.

And that’s the point.

You want to find out.

Because when that opportunity comes, you don’t want overthinking to be the thing that gets in your way of accomplishing your goals.

You don’t want fear of failure deciding how aggressively you compete.

You don’t want one mistake stealing the next 3 opportunities.

You don’t want pressure deciding which version of you shows up.

You want to walk into bigger moments and think:

I’m ready for this.
I belong here.
Let’s go.

You’ve built the talent.

Now let’s see how far you can take it.

What if 90 days from now…

You walk into competition without wondering which version of you is going to show up.

You’re not replaying the last mistake.

You’re not shrinking when the moment gets bigger.

You’re competing.

You trust your preparation.

You recover faster when something goes wrong.

You stay locked in the game instead of getting trapped in your head.

And when the pressure rises?

You know how to bring yourself back.

Because the goal isn’t just to feel more confident.

The goal is to find out what becomes possible when your mental performance starts matching your physical ability.

Meet Coach Chris

Talent isn’t always the problem.

I’ve spent more than 30 years around competitive athletes.

I was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 1992 and played professionally for 11 years with the Atlanta Braves, Pittsburgh Pirates and the Arizona Diamondbacks organizations, including time in the Major Leagues with the Colorado Rockies.

I’ve been coaching and working with athletes since 1992 in baseball, softball, golf and tennis.

Currently, I am the director of baseball & softball at a Christian academy, as well as a certified mental mastery coach.

And after thousands of hours around athletes, I’ve seen something again and again:

I’ve watched talented athletes know exactly what to do, and struggle to access it when it’s time to compete and the pressure hits.

I’ve watched athletes come to me thinking they needed another mechanical adjustment when something else was getting in their way.

And I’ve seen what changes when an athlete learns how to reset, adjust & trust themselves and the process again.

That’s the work I love.

Find what’s getting in the way.
Then get to work on it.

Straightforward.Practical.No fluff.

And when something is complicated?

I’ll put it in kindergarten terms. 😄

Because you don’t need sophisticated concepts to get things done.

You need to know what to do when your brain starts getting in the way when you want to compete.

From overthinking to Division I

Alexis at Fairfield University

Alexis

Alexis came to me struggling with confidence.

She was overthinking.

Worried about failure.

Thinking about what could go wrong before it even happened.

She knew she had the ability.

She just wasn’t trusting herself when it mattered.

As we worked together, she learned how to quiet some of that noise, recover faster when things didn’t go her way & compete with more trust in herself.

Alexis later earned a Division I softball scholarship to Fairfield University.

She had the talent. The work was helping her trust it when it mattered.

When talent isn’t the problem.

Ty on draft day

Ty

Ty came to me for help with his swing.

And the talent was obvious.

He already had what you couldn’t teach.

But the higher you go, the bigger the moments become.

The competition gets better.

Expectations rise.

Mistakes cost more.

More eyes are watching.

And talent alone doesn’t decide what you do with those moments.

You have to adjust without unraveling.

Handle failure without carrying it with you.

Trust yourself when the stakes get bigger.

And keep competing when things don’t go your way.

I watched Ty grow into a more complete competitor, not just physically, but in how he handled himself, responded & adjusted.

He went on to be drafted by the San Diego Padres.

Ty earned that.

I was lucky enough to be one of the coaches in his corner.

And his story reminds me of something I’ve seen again and again:

Talent can open doors.
You want to be ready when they open.

For the parents who can see it too.

You can buy your athlete another lesson. Another clinic. Another camp. Another piece of equipment.

And sometimes that’s exactly what they need.

But maybe you’ve watched your son or daughter look incredible in practice, and then become a different athlete in the game when they are under pressure.

You know the skill is there.

That’s what makes it so hard to watch.

You see how talented they are. You see how hard they work. You see how badly they want it.

And then you watch one mistake change their whole game.

The shoulders drop. The frustration starts. The thinking starts.

The ride home is miserable.

And maybe the hardest part is this:

You can see the potential they possess.
You just want THEM to be able to access it too.

You want them to have the chance to find out:

How good could they actually become?
